"Chrystal Blue Persuasion"

This outfit is made from two fabrics.  The contrast fabric is a true blue crispy taffeta (swish swish!!) that holds it shape well.  It is used as the base of the bodice front & back, in the lining of the collar and in the sashes.

The primary fabric is a very soft shimmery crystal satin which I believe was called crystal organdy although it's heavier than a lightweight organdy. It actually falls beautifully as a skirt weight and holds its shape beautifully, as in the sleeves. It's super soft to the touch.

Some photos show the contrast really well, where as in real life the contrast sometimes does not show at all!  It depends on the lighting!

The dartless bodice is taffeta with an overlay of the crystal fabric. The ruffles are made by satin-edge finishing in a coordinating blue thread, and gathered through the center.  They go from the top of the overlay in front all the way to the waist of the back.

The Peter Pan collar has a base of taffeta, with the overlay in crystal, and the crystal fabric was used to create a self-piping.

Sleeves are made of the crystal fabric and have a satin-stitched finish to match the ruffles. Elasticized for upper arm comfort and pleated at the shoulder for a professional finish.

The skirt is 180" around, finished on the inside at the waist with a satin-stitched edge, and hand pleated for an even disbursement of gathers.

The hem was double finished ... serged, then pressed up and stitched, then pressed up another 1/2" and stitched again. This way no serging shows, and there is a bit of weight to the hemline.

Crisp taffeta sashes stem from side seams to create a bow which holds its shape well, over the center back zipper.
