About UniKaren Designs: Purchasing a UniKaren Design means you are getting an ORIGINAL outfit. Since I was a teenager, I have been designing and sewing square dance outfits... it's been over 40 years now. To this day I still have hundreds of design ideas and I look forward to seeing them come to fruition, and hope that you will continue to enjoy what I create.

Privacy Policy: All items are discretely packaged. Tissue is folded into the outfit to prevent wrinkling as much as possible. Item is then wrapped in plastic before box packaging. A mailing label is placed on the inside parcel in the event the outside parcel is damaged. For items going outside of the country, please inform me as to what you want written on the declaration. I respect your need for discretion. If you don't specify, it will be labeled as a costume.

Fabric: Light weight polyester, 100% cotton eyelet This dress was inspired by my favorite childhood memory, of me with my dad. I was about four. Immerse yourself in the fantasy of going to an elementary school run by nuns, where everyone had to wear the same uniform: red plaid skirt with a white blouse, with a bow at the bottom of your long blond braid. The design was intricately cut out so that wherever possible, the plaid design matches at the seams. The skirt is almost a full circle and will fit over a full crinoline, shown here on a 150-yard crystalline petticoat (not included). The bottom tier is made from the plaid, and has white flat lace trim on the hem. The upper ruffle is made from white eyelet, trimmed with white lace along the top edge and hem, and is attached with ruffled white lace. The bodice is made from the eyelet fabric, and features an overlay of the red plaid across the stomach and lower back. The top edge of the overlay is trimmed with white ruffled lace. Straps that go from front to back across the shoulders, sewn over a plaid ruffle finished with narrow white flat lace along the outer edge. Peter Pan collar is made from the white fabric, and is finished with bias made of same. Ruffled lace is sandwiched between the outer collar and its lining. Full pouffy sleeves are made from the white fabric, elasticized for upper arm comfort, pleated at the shoulder for a professional finish. A white satin ribbon bow sits at the side of the sleeve. Plaid sashes stem from the side seams so you can cinch the waist to your comfort, creating a perky bow over the center back. Center back zipper, hook & eye closure at the top. Coordinating bloomers are made from plaid fabric, featuring five rows of white ruffled lace across the backside for a classic UniKaren "rufflebutt" effect. White flat white lace finishes the hems to match other areas of the dress. White satin ribbon bows adorn the sides. A 5" wide plaid hair bow is attached to a barrette to complete this ensemble.
